Clermont Chiropractor Announces Free School Physicals & Posture Evaluations

CLERMONT, Fla., June 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Michaux Family Chiropractic announced that the practice will be providing free school physicals, posture evaluations and health screenings for homeless children on June 22. The free screening will take place at First United Methodist Church located at 950 7th St., Clermont, FL 34711. The family chiropractic center is partnering with New Beginnings to provide this free health service to children in the community. According to chiropractor Dr. Kurt Michaux, young children are at increased risk for posture problems due to over-weighted backpacks, which can strain a developing musculoskeletal system. Posture and spine problems, including scoliosis, are most effectively treated when detected as early as possible.

Clermont chiropractor Dr. Kurt Michaux is offering a free community health screening for homeless children on June 22. The event, in partnership with First United Methodist Church and New Beginnings, will provide parents with an opportunity to have their children's posture and spine checked while receiving a free school physical.

"Postural problems can have a serious impact on a child's spinal development," said Dr. Michaux. "Whether this problem is caused by scoliosis or due to an over-weighted school backpack, the earlier we identify the problem, the more steps we can take to correct it and protect a child's musculoskeletal system."

According to the Clermont chiropractor, poor posture is a growing problem amongst school age children. This is due in part to backpacks that are weighed down with heavy books. As children spend more time in front of the TV and computer at earlier ages, this can also affect posture.

"A lack of regular exercise, combined with heavy backpacks, is setting many children up for a lifetime of back pain," said Dr. Michaux. "With early intervention, however, it is possible to correct the underlying problems triggering these spinal problems and prevent chronic back pain."

Dr. Michaux says events like the upcoming free school physicals and postural screenings are an important opportunity to reach community members who might not otherwise receive care.

"All children deserve to live healthy, active lives," said Dr. Michaux. "By identifying problems early, we can recommend lifestyle changes and drug-free pain management solutions."

Dr. Michaux and his practice, Michaux Family Chiropractic, are active in the local community. The family chiropractic center frequently hold community outreach events like the upcoming school physical and spinal screening.

"Many people are new to chiropractic care or not familiar with its benefits," said Dr. Michaux. "Our community outreach events are an opportunity to educate individuals about the benefits of chiropractic care for drug-free pain management, injury rehabilitation and whole body health. By educating individuals about their different treatment options, they can make informed choices," he said.
