CFA Society Toronto announces election of new board members


TORONTO, June 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CFA Society Toronto is pleased to announce Josephine Marks, FSA, FCIA, CFA, has been named board president following today's election meeting.

In addition to Ms. Marks' appointment, CFA Society Toronto welcomes two new members to the board of directors, Anish Chopra, CFA and Carlo Giuliani, MBA, C.Dir, CFA, "We are pleased to attract such high calibre candidates to serve on CFA Society Toronto's board. We are committed to serving our members' needs through the delivery of high quality, professional programming and to support global initiatives such as the Future of Finance project, a global effort to shape a trustworthy, forward-thinking financial industry recently launched by CFA Institute. As a society we continue to expand the utilization of our new downtown facilities for courses and networking events, while we concurrently enhance the application of technology to serve members who work and live outside the downtown core.  Our priorities for the next year include: the expansion of member services, continued focus on quality programming and the evolution of our longer term strategy to promote high ethical standards, supporting the financial community and the investing public that it serves." said Josephine Marks, FSA, FCIA, CFA.

Past President Frederick M. New Members

Anish Chopra, CFA – Chair, Membership Services

Anish Chopra is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at TD Asset Management Inc.  He has over 15 years of experience at TD, including over a decade committed to managing proprietary funds, with knowledge in Canadian, U.S. and global equities as well as numerous absolute return strategies.  Anish is a member of the TD Wealth Asset Allocation Committee. Prior to joining TDAM, he worked as a member of TD Securities' mergers and acquisitions group. Anish holds a Masters of Accounting from the University of Waterloo, is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and is a Chartered Business Valuator.  He earned his CFA charter in 1999.

Carlo Giuliani, MBA, C.Dir, CFA  - Chair, External Relations & Advocacy

Carlo Giuliani is the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of a substantial single family office in Canada. Carlo's expertise includes establishing and administering the governance structure, creating and monitoring asset allocation and the appropriate portfolio construction as well as estate planning, tax efficiency, trust and insurance planning and philanthropy.  Previously Carlo was the junior CFO for a TSX-listed mining company. Carlo founded a global manufacturing and retail operation with multiple locations and oversaw over 200 employees in North America and Europe.

Carlo graduated top of his 2009 MBA class at the Goodman Institute of Investment Management, Concordia. He has been a CFA charterholder and Chartered Director since 2009 and serves on multiple boards.  Carlo was appointed Vice-Chair of CFA Society Toronto's Advocacy & External Relations Committee in 2012.
