Equity Capital Markets Expansion

MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gary K. Wunderlich, Jr., CEO of Wunderlich Securities announced that James L. Dobson was named Director of Equity Capital Markets and the addition of four Equity Capital Market Professionals. Joining Wunderlich Securities' equity research department are Robert M. Derrington, Todd P. Scholl, CFA, and James Terwilliger, while Bruce Durkee joins the firm's investment banking practice. "We continue to focus on the development of our Equity Capital Markets business and are extremely pleased to have attracted these seasoned professionals to our platform," said Gary Wunderlich. Wunderlich Securities has experienced extraordinary growth over the past two years, particularly in Equity Capital Markets (ECM). With these hires, the ECM division, founded in late 2008, today has 18 senior analysts covering companies in six industry verticals – including energy, financial services, diversified industrials, technology, healthcare and consumer. The ECM Division has grown to 18 senior salespersons, 9 traders/sales traders, and 20 senior investment bankers. James L. Dobson will serve as Director of Research as well as Managing Director of the Equity Capital Markets Division. He joined Wunderlich in 2009 and has more than 20 years of experience as an Equity Analyst and Investment Banker for Deutsche Bank, Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette, Smith Barney and Paine Webber. Robert M. Derrington, Senior Vice President will provide research coverage of the Restaurant Industry. Bob joins Wunderlich Securities from Northcoast Research where he initiated their restaurant research efforts. Immediately prior to Northcoast, he spent 20 years as a Senior Restaurant analyst with Morgan Keegan and SunTrust. Bob's research efforts have earned a number of industry awards including numerous citations by both StarMine and the Wall Street Journal. In May 2013, Mr. Derrington was named to the Wall Street Journal's "Best on the Street" research team.

Todd P. Scholl, CFA, Senior Vice President, will provide research coverage on Oilfield Services (OFS). Todd joins Wunderlich from Clarkson Capital Markets in Houston where he spent the last two years covering the international Oilfield Services space. Previously, he worked for RBC Capital Markets covering the Oilfield Services space in both Austin and London. Todd has 10 years of institutional investment experience, including working as a buy-side energy and mining analyst.

James Terwilliger, Senior Vice President, joins Wunderlich from Benchmark in Memphis and has over 10 years of equity research experience in Healthcare, five years of those with Morgan Keegan. At Morgan Keegan, James was named an All-Star Analyst for stock performance by the Wall Street Journal. James was also ranked by StarMine for the accuracy of his EPS estimates. James has significant healthcare industry experience as he worked at Ernst & Young and Johnson & Johnson. He was also the CEO of a biotech company. James did graduate work at the Yale School of Medicine and earned a Master of Public Health degree.

Bruce B. Durkee, Managing Director, joins the Wunderlich Securities Investment Banking Department. With over 20 years of investment banking experience, Mr. Durkee has completed over $5 billion in capital raises and completed dozens of M & A assignments for a diverse group of businesses. Prior to joining Wunderlich, he served as a Managing Director at Renova Partners, an Atlanta-based investment banking boutique firm. Bruce has served in several management capacities in investment banking and equity capital markets as Managing Director, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and Wheat First/First Union Securities in Richmond, Virginia. Bruce received his B.S. from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
