U.S. Patent & Trademark Office Awards Patent for Predictive Alert Targeting Invention to AtHoc

SAN MATEO, Calif., Oct. 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AtHoc, Inc., today announced the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 8542117 for predictive alert targeting, another innovation from the global leader in network-centric interactive crisis communications.

Predictive alert targeting elevates the effectiveness of the AtHoc Interactive Warning System (AtHoc IWS) with improved accuracy and faster delivery of critical information, leading to expedited resolution. All emergency personnel and response teams know that when a crisis occurs, shaving off seconds when responding to any incident saves lives.

"We continue to innovate to meet the growing needs of our customers," said Aviv Siegel, CTO of AtHoc. "The predictive alert targeting technology uses data based on end users' favored contact devices (smartphones, desktop PCs, IP phones, etc.) and previous contact results to give emergency managers awareness of optimal ways to target their message, which increases alert message reach when seconds count."

Predictive alert targeting can be applied, for example, to a work environment which may have a higher proportion of its population using desktops and mobile devices as the preferred alerting channels. With predictive alert targeting, emergency managers can tailor the selection of devices for maximum reach, further safeguarding all workforce personnel.

"This innovation increases the certainty of reaching someone with an alert message," continued Siegel, "which contrasts sharply with the traditional 'push and pray' approach when organizations only find out about the performance of their notification system by reviewing reports well after an incident. We are very excited to bring this invention to our customer base."
