Cadwalader Opens New ITC Patent Litigation Practice with the Addition of Leading Trial Lawyers

Alex Hadjis and Kristin Yohannan to Lead ITC Patent Litigation Team


NEW YORK, Jan. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP (Cadwalader), a leading counselor to global corporations and financial institutions, announced today that Alex Hadjis, a nationally-recognized patent trial attorney with extensive experience in the International Trade Commission (ITC), has joined the firm as partner and that Kristin Yohannan has joined the firm as special counsel. Hadjis and Yohannan will be resident in Cadwalader's Washington, D.C., office, where they will head up the firm's new ITC Patent Litigation Practice.

Alex Hadjis is nationally ranked in the Chambers USA guide for ITC trial expertise and ranked in the Chambers USA guide for district court patent litigation expertise, and will head-up Cadwalader's new ITC Patent litigation Practice. He is also ranked in Chambers Global for ITC litigation. He has led numerous high stakes patent cases for leading companies in the technology arena, recently winning a significant victory in the ITC for Chinese Mobile Device manufacturer, Huawei. Hadjis served as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which has exclusive jurisdiction over appeals for all patent cases. He is frequently a featured speaker and author on patent law topics.

Hadjis graduated from The Ohio State University in 1990 with a degree in electrical engineering. He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1993 and an LL.M. from George Washington University Law School in 1996. Hadjis is admitted to the bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
With 19 years of experience in patent litigation, Kristin Yohannan also brings a solid track record of ITC patent trial experience to Cadwalader's new ITC team. She has tried numerous cases before the ITC and has been lead counsel in several federal district court cases. She also served as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and was an Assistant Solicitor in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she argued numerous appeals before the Federal Circuit.

Yohannan graduated from Lafayette College in 1989 with degrees in biology and chemistry, obtained an M.S. in molecular genetics from the University of Connecticut in 1991, and received her J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 1994. She is admitted to the bars of Virginia, Pennsylvania and District of Columbia, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Hadjis and Yohannan join from Morrison & Forester, where both were partners. Hadjis co-chaired Morrison's IP Group and chaired the ITC Practice.
