2014 American Business Awards(SM) Names Intersil's New High-Efficiency Buck-Boost and Boost Switching Regulator Family as Finalist

The ISL911xx Switching Regulators Recognized for Improving Consumers' Experience With Their Mobile Devices by Increasing Battery Life and Preventing Overheating, Glitches and Noise

MILPITAS, Calif., May 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Intersil Corporation (Nasdaq:ISIL), a leading provider of innovative power management and precision analog solutions, today announced that its high-current buck-boost and boost switching regulator family has been named a finalist in the 2014 American Business AwardsSM. The American Business Awards are the nation's premier business awards program, honoring innovation, integrity, effectiveness, creativity and growth.

Intersil's ISL911xx switching regulator family is a finalist in the New Product or Service of the Year, in the "Hardware - Semiconductor or Other Electronic Component" category. It secured the finalist position because of its ability to increase battery life and improve efficiency in mobile devices. Specifically, top smartphone OEMs use the ISL91110 and ISL91108 buck-boost switching regulators to improve system performance and battery life in mobile devices up to 25 percent.

The ISL911xx switching regulators' innovative architecture offers up to 96 percent efficiency to extend battery life and reduce overheating in high-current handheld devices. The proprietary architecture allows for smooth transitions from buck to boost to prevent glitches and noise in smartphones, tablets and other single-cell lithium ion (Li) battery-based systems.

"Intersil continues to extend its leadership in power management technology for battery-powered mobile devices and consumer electronics, and we're honored that the American Business Awards sees the value in our high-current buck-boost and boost switching regulator family," said Andrew Cowell, senior vice president of Mobile Power Products at Intersil. "This nomination underscores the fact that Intersil helps OEMs deliver the best end-user experience, improving the system performance and power efficiency of their devices."

Finalists were chosen by more than 150 business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April and May. More than 150 members of several specialized judging committees will determine Stevie Award placements from among the Finalists during final judging, to take place May 13-22.

"The final judges have a difficult task ahead of them, to rank the Finalists, because there are so many great nominations this year," said Stevie Awards president and founder Michael Gallagher.
