ACOUSTIC GADGETS INTRODUCES CLIPSEE(TM) FOR IPHONE TO HELP COMBAT DISTRACTED DRIVING

World's first hands-free, battery-free, wire-free speakerphone that clips to your seatbelt

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 29, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Acoustic Gadgets, LLC, the designers and engineers of a line of easy-to-use, yet powerful acoustic accessories for smartphones, today announced the availability of ClipSee, the world's first hands-free, battery-free, wire-free device that amplifies call sound by 3X for iPhones.

"ClipSee is a simple, compelling, and inexpensive alternative to making phone calls while driving. Not only do you no longer need to fiddle with Bluetooth headsets, tangled cords from earbuds, or synching issues with Bluetooth- both parties on the phone can now experience superior call clarity," said Hugh McLaughlin, founder and CEO of Acoustic Gadgets.

According to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic & Safety Administration), at any given minute across America, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or manipulating electronic devices while driving, a number that has held steady since 2010. In 2011, nearly half a million Americans were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver, a number that is increasing every year. Distracted driving is an all-encompassing term, involving everything from grooming, eating and drinking to texting, using a cell phone or navigation system, or reading while behind the wheel.

Added McLaughlin, "After researching options already on the market, we challenged ourselves to imagine the simplest possible solution to help address the distracted driving problem. We chose the iPhone for ClipSee's debut because it has the best acoustics and internal signal processing, and when coupled with the superior one-touch user interface provided by Siri, we knew we were coming close to combining accessibility with safety."

HOW CLIPSEE WORKS

Once clipped to your seatbelt, the ClipSee faces outward from your body. The iPhone (models 4, 4S, 5, 5S) fits snugly into the cradle that has been specifically designed to amplify the sound by 3X, while placing the iPhone's speakerphone microphone right under the user's chin. The short distance from microphone to the talker's mouth allows the iPhone's internal signal processing to remove road and wind noise leaving the talker's voice as clean as if talking by handset. Finger guides help you locate the speakerphone button on the iPhone, as well as the Home button to enlist Siri to place a call for you. ClipSee accommodates most iPhone cases.

In addition, the product's design thwarts the ability to text while driving since the iPhone faces outward when secure inside ClipSee.
