The Pain Recovery Program at Father Martin's Ashley Launches New Psychology Today Blog

Experts Offer Real Hope to People Suffering With Chronic Pain

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD--(Marketwired - Feb 26, 2015) - The Pain Recovery Program (PRP) at Father Martin's Ashley, a leading program that offers a robust, integrated approach to treating chronic pain while ending dependence on prescription pain medications, today announced its new blog on the Psychology Today website entitled, "Chronic Pain 360°: Real Hope for Recovery."

The primary blog author is pain recovery specialist and manager of The Pain Recovery Program, Scott Dehorty, MSW, LCSW-C. Other PRP staff members and experts will also contribute their knowledge to the new blog. Drawing on decades of experience, the blog offers insight on topics related to chronic pain syndrome and why reliance on prescription pain medications is not the answer.

Dependence on, and deaths from, opiates has reached epidemic proportions in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Vital Signs, healthcare providers wrote 259 million prescriptions for painkillers in 2012, enough for every American adult to have a bottle of the pills.

"We greatly value this opportunity to inform those suffering with chronic pain about effective, non-opiate treatment options," said Dehorty. "The partnership with Psychology Today enables us to share our clinical knowledge and expertise to provide help to a much broader audience."

The goal of "Chronic Pain 360°: Real Hope for Recovery" is to provide practical information, pointing toward solutions that bring real hope to people who are struggling with dependence on prescription pain medications and still experiencing pain, as well as to those who care about them.

"We invite all who are interested in this important topic to follow our new blog, join the conversation, and tell us what they think," added Dehorty.
