Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety Names New Chief Safety Officer

Mark Chubb, president of the USA Branch of the Institution of Fire Engineers, to oversee fire safety operations and training in Bangladesh and guide remediation efforts in all factories from which Alliance Members source.


DHAKA, Bangladesh, March 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - The Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety today announced the appointment of fire safety expert Mark Chubb to serve as chief safety officer. In this role, he will oversee fire safety operations and training in Bangladesh and guide remediation efforts in all factories from which Alliance Members source.

"Mark will ensure that the Alliance continues to bring world-class expertise to factory remediation and fire safety programs for Bangladesh garment workers," said Alliance Independent Chair Ellen Tauscher. "His role as an advisor will be critical to factories from which the Alliance sources, as they ensure compliance with our strict standards."

Mr. Chubb is a certified chief fire officer and fire service health and safety officer with more than 30 years of experience in fire safety and emergency management. A seasoned expert in emergency response, crisis management and the implementation of fire safety training and emergency management programs, he has held leadership roles in public safety, firefighting and emergency management across the United States and in New Zealand.

Most recently, Mr. Chubb served as president of the USA Branch of the Institution of Fire Engineers, based out of Seattle, WA and fire chief of King County Fire District #20. Mr. Chubb received a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science and Urban Studies from the University of Maryland University College, and a Masters of Public Policy in Policy, Strategy, and Local Government from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
