RONA Encourages its Plant Suppliers to Reduce Their Use of Neonicotinoids

BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 27, 2015) - RONA Inc. (TSX:RON)(TSX:RON.PR.A) is announcing its commitment to reducing the use of neonicotinoids by encouraging its suppliers to reduce the use of these insecticides and by better informing its clients, namely via its Web site and through signs posted in its corporate stores.

This year, 70% of all plants sold in corporate RONA and Réno-Dépôt stores have been grown without any neonicotinoids. In 2016, all of the company's plant suppliers will be required to clearly identify their products as containing or not containing neonicotinoids. Consumers will therefore be able to make an informed decision when purchasing plants at RONA or Réno-Dépôt stores.

Neonicotinoids are insecticides believed to have adverse effects on bee populations. As a result, RONA and Réno-Dépôt suppliers are strengthening efforts to reduce their use by implementing alternative methods.
