African Travel, Inc. Partners with WildAid to Celebrate "World Elephant Day"

DELRAY BEACH, FL, Aug. 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- August 12, 2015 marks the fourth-annual World Elephant Day, a day dedicated to honoring elephants, spreading awareness about the critical threats they face, and supporting organizations that are working to ensure their survival. African Travel, Inc. is proud to celebrate this important day while supporting the defense and conservation of elephants and other wildlife.

As a founding member of The TreadRight Foundation, a not-for-profit organization established by parent company The Travel Corporation (TTC), African Travel, Inc. is an active supporter of WildAid and TreadRight's other projects and work. The principles of conservation and leadership guide all actions, from African Travel, Inc.'s regional offices to their affiliate partners. By providing grants to organizations that encourage sustainability in different destinations, the hope is to maintain the natural attractions that define each unique region - particularly the stunning wildlife that call it home.

African Travel, Inc. also understands that many safari guests wish to show support for these causes through volunteer work. Safari Specialists can facilitate those who want to donate their time, expertise, and physical labor to a variety of projects in East and Southern Africa, including volunteering in the field of conservation, working in a medical clinic, or helping to build a shelter or school.

Due to rapid human encroachment and unprecedented levels of poaching, elephants are facing a grim future and some experts fear global extinction within our lifetimes. Witness these exquisite gentle giants firsthand on African Travel, Inc.'s "The Last Refuge" - a connoisseur's safari adventure throughout Botswana. The Okavango Delta is home to thriving populations of elephants and hippos, while the Kalahari Desert boasts ancient baobabs and inquisitive meerkats. Explore the bush from the comfort of luxuriously-appointed intimate camps, whose ideal locations and gracious staff welcome you in comfort and authentic African style.

" The Last Refuge " is a nine-day exploration of Johannesburg, Linyanti Reserve, Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Pans.  Prices start from $9,185 per person, based on double occupancy. International and internal air is additional.
