NuoDB Strengthens Executive Team to Prepare for Rapid Growth

Database Visionary Appoints Industry Veterans to Lead Engineering, Finance and Services

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwired - November 19, 2015) - NuoDB, the database for cloud-enabled global applications, announced today the expansion of its senior management team with the appointments of Roger Blanchette as chief financial officer and Jim Watson as senior vice president of engineering. In addition, the company has consolidated its customer success resourced under Vice President of Services Dirk Hamstra and promoted Charles Lamb to vice president of software development. As demand for NuoDB's unique, geo-distributed database increases, these additions bring significant industry experience to the executive bench and reinforce the company's commitment to furthering the product architecture for the benefit of customers worldwide.

With more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry, Roger is responsible for finance, human resources and legal functions. Most recently, he was the CFO of Ektron, a cloud provider of web content management software solutions, where he managed the integration of the finance, legal and IT functions following the merger of Ektron with Episerver, a Sweden based cloud software company. Roger's previous experience includes CFO and senior finance positions at Dune Medical Devices, Cadent, DataSynapse, and Concord Communications.

As senior vice president of engineering, Dr. Jim Watson is responsible for the development of the unique NuoDB technology into a high-quality product that delivers superior customer value and drives revenue growth. In addition to his track record of building and managing high performing engineering teams, Jim brings a strong customer focus built on more than a decade of serving in chief architect and CTO roles at major banks, credit card companies, and financial technology software vendors.

NuoDB has combined professional services, support, and account management into a single organization focused on end-to-end customer success, under the leadership of Dirk Hamstra. Dirk joined NuoDB in 2014, after 10 years at Microsoft, where he was most recently responsible for Services sales for the top 100 Global Accounts.

A frequent industry speaker, Charles has worked at organizations such as Oracle, Object Design, and Cloudera designing, developing, and deploying database management systems. Since joining the NuoDB team earlier this year, he has focused on understanding the issues customers face in the areas of geo-distributed data management, horizontal scalability, data residency, and cluster management. In his new role, Charles will lead the development team to meet these requirements.

"We're seeing tremendous interest from independent software vendors and enterprises as they transition their applications to an on-demand model," said Bob Walmsley, president and CEO of NuoDB. "As we look to deliver even greater value to such organizations, we'll be able to rely on the decades of experience that Jim, Roger, Dirk, and Charles have in refining, delivering, and supporting the enterprise-class products that power strategic corporate initiatives."

To support company growth and increased customer adoption, NuoDB also recently relocated its worldwide headquarters to a significantly expanded space in Cambridge, MA. Situated alongside the Charles River, the new office features an open floor plan and is conveniently located in Kendall Square near MIT.
