Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network Now Accepting Applications for 2016 Research Awards

Call for Research Proposals

BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 21, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) is seeking applicants for its 2016 research grant program. The Bladder Cancer Research Innovation Award will fund one $300,000 two-year grant to an experienced investigator who will break new ground in the field of bladder cancer. The application process is open and letters of intent are due by February 25.

The Young Investigator Awards will fund researchers in basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, bio-engineering or any other scientific or research field, but who are also working in a research environment capable of supporting transformational bladder cancer research. Two awards of $50,000 each over a one-year period will be funded. Applications are due March 16.

The 2016 research guidelines and applications can be found at www.bcan.org/research/grants/.

The foundation of BCAN's research program, first launched in 2013, is to inspire more investigators to join the bladder cancer field, a disease in which more research is desperately needed. To date, BCAN has invested $1.5 million to fund bladder cancer research.

"BCAN is excited to continue to support outstanding researchers in their efforts to improve the understanding and treatment of bladder cancer. Scientific findings from past awardees offer hope to the many individuals diagnosed with this very common cancer," stated Diane Zipursky Quale, Co-Founder and President of BCAN.
