Felix Mick Brachytherapy Award given to young radiation oncologists


Seneffe, Belgium, June 14, 2018. Today, Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG presented the Felix Mick Brachytherapy Award to two young radiation oncologists, both of whom are dedicated to using radiation therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer. The presentation of the award took place during the ESTRO Teaching Course: Brachytherapy for Prostate Cancer in Avignon, France.

The prize enabled the winners to participate in the ESTRO Teaching Course: Brachytherapy for Prostate Cancer, where they deepened their knowledge regarding patient selection, indications and contra-indications for brachytherapy, and the techniques, equipment and staffing necessary for a prostate brachytherapy unit. The winners were chosen in cooperation with the Young ESTRO Committee (yESTRO) and the Spanish Young Radiation Oncology Group (SYROG).

The prize named to honor Felix Mick, founder of Mick Radio-Nuclear Instruments, Inc. in Mount Vernon, New York (USA), was awarded for the first time and aims to support young radiation oncologists in their continuing training. Motivated by the excellent treatment results achieved by brachytherapy specialists all over the world, Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG is committed to the treatment of prostate cancer using high-quality HDR and LDR brachytherapy equipment.
