Derby Building Products’ Beach House Shake™ Receives Notice of Acceptance (NOA) from Miami-Dade County

Quebec City, Canada, Feb. 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Derby Building Products’ Beach House Shake™, which has the indistinguishable look of cedar shingles, has received a Notice of Acceptance (NOA No. 18-0716.05) from Miami-Dade County. Undergoing rigorous testing for small and large missile impact resistance, burn rates, uniform static air pressure, and cyclic wind pressure loading, Miami-Dade County has listed Beach House Shake as compliant and capable of withstanding the severe weather conditions experienced throughout Florida, including its High Velocity Hurricane Zone.

Miami-Dade County’s standards for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone are recognized as being among the most stringent in the United States. The NOA for Beach House Shake certifies that the product has successfully met all rigorous testing criteria. To inform the market of the NOA, Beach House Shake units will carry a permanent label noting the acceptance by Miami-Dade County.

“The acceptance from Miami-Dade County speaks to Beach House Shake’s resilience and durability when faced with high velocity coastal winds,” said Ralph Bruno, Derby’s CEO. “In addition to this new NOA, Beach House Shake is impervious to moisture making it ideal for both coastal regions and inland projects as well.”

Unlike other products that require the addition of screws or extreme installation techniques such as face-fastening to meet Miami Dade requirements, standard roofing nails work well with Beach House Shake. The only installation modification needed is to increase the number of nails per panel and fasten at each anchor point.

“We have a Beach House Shake wall that was built at our Miami Florida facility over two years ago.  This installation has faced and survived two hurricanes, the most damaging being Irma in September of 2017,” said Bruno. “During this Category 4 hurricane, our installation faced 100 mph winds, intense heat, and torrential rain. Despite local destruction, the Beach House Shake wall survived unscathed.    Additionally, after over two years in the South Florida sun, this Beach House Shake installation looks like new with no discoloration.  With our new Miami-Dade acceptance, we have official certification that our Beach House Shake can stand up to Mother Nature.” To learn more about Tando products and Beach House Shake, visit www.tandobp.com.
