MySQL's Head of Worldwide Sales Joins MuleSource Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 17, 2009) - MuleSource, the leading provider of open source service oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure software, today announced that Mark Burton, previously executive vice president of MySQL, has joined the MuleSource Board of Directors.

"In two short years, MuleSource has become the clear leader among open source players in the SOA infrastructure category," said Burton. "I am excited to be working with the team to extend MuleSource's leadership globally, further cementing their position as innovators with the best platform, the broadest user base, and the best overall opportunity for growth in the current economic climate."

As the head of worldwide sales for MySQL since January of 2005, Burton was responsible for growing and managing MySQL's international sales and partner organization, resulting in the landmark $1 billion acquisition by Sun Microsystems in early 2008. Burton previously served as group vice president of worldwide sales and alliances at Informatica Corporation, where he grew the company's annual revenues from $8 million to $154 million, key to Informatica's successful IPO and secondary offering.

"As a key player at MySQL, one of the most successful open source companies ever, Mark brings his experience balancing the need to grow the open source community while establishing a winning business model," said Ross Mason, CTO and co-founder of MuleSource. "His track record in attaining record results and guiding organizations through explosive growth will prove to be invaluable as we strive to build on our success to date."
