BIO-key(R) International, Inc. Introduces Mobile Biometric App on iTunes & Android Platforms

Mobile Authentication App to Meet Market Demand for Strong Security and Convenience

WALL, N.J., Feb. 21, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BIO-key International, Inc. (OTCBB:BKYI), a global leader in fingerprint biometric identification solutions and advanced mobile identification technology, today reported that BIO-key's latest software release for Apple iOS products, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch is now available on iTunes. "WEB-key Client" is an iTunes application that works with BIO-key's WEB-key Server for strong authentication solutions. A demo site is available at http://mobile.bio-key.com:8080/Cloud, showcasing Cloud authentication options.

In early December 2011, BIO-key made the Android release of WEB-key client available for the Motorola Atrix which offers a built in fingerprint sensor. The integration to the Android Platform completed phase two of BIO-key's mobile development platform as the company already offers solutions for the WinMobile platform. By announcing the launch of the fingerprint biometric iTunes app, the company maintains its commitment to offering state of the art biometric authentication solutions for all mobile platforms.

Recently, advanced mobile device fingerprint hardware solutions were introduced for iOS devices by Grabba, S.I.C. Biometrics and Fulcrum. Each device supports the new BIO-key iTunes application. BIO-key's iOS WEB-key client, functions with the same applications as its Win Mobile and Android counterparts, positioning BIO-key as the only software developer to offer interoperable biometric authentication solutions for the three most recognized mobile platforms. BIO-key technology offers unequaled scalability and flexibility offering users the opportunity to provide a single enrollment which allows them to authenticate from any device or usage point; users can enroll on an iPhone and authenticate on a tablet, Android phone, PC or laptop from anywhere in the world.

"Device and environment independence is a key benefit of BIO-key technology. Our goal for the past decade is maintaining that an enrollment is usable now and into the future across any and all fingerprint scanners, operating systems, devices and even applications," stated Mira LaCous, VP Technology and Development. "BIO-key offers full enrollment and identification, supported by a highly accurate algorithm and full security encryption of critical authentication data. BIO-key provides these solutions across healthcare, education, government, banking and the business enterprise," she continued.

"We are pioneering the path for securing mobile devices that is convenient and are integrated into many partner applications. The company has developed strategic relationships with IBM, CA Technologies and Oracle," said Mike DePasquale BIO-key CEO. "In healthcare we've partnered with leading EMR providers including Allscripts and EPIC who are witnessing a demand for stronger security as the iPad, a preferred device amongst physicians, is being used inside and outside the hospital for both personal and business applications; thus magnifying the risk of protecting patient records and increasing the need for convenient strong authentication," DePasquale summarized.
