University of Colorado Health Selects Capsule

DataCaptor(TM) Device Integration Solutions to be Implemented System-Wide

ANDOVER, Mass., Aug. 13, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Capsule Tech, Inc., the leading provider of medical device connectivity solutions, today announced that University of Colorado Health, Aurora, CO will deploy Capsule's DataCaptor™ device integration (MDI) solution in up to five of its hospitals. In addition to deploying DataCaptor in all of the ORs, Capsule's solution will also be implemented in PACUs and a number of procedure rooms to provide comprehensive connectivity to Epic OpTime.

As a growing health system, the University of Colorado Health sought a device connectivity solution that is as close to a 'plug and play' as possible.  Moreover, it had to be scalable to ensure it could grow with the organization's needs. Capsule's experience, reliability, flexibility and extensive library of device driver interfaces allow for a timely implementation plan across all of the organization's hospitals and into other care areas in their facilities.

Capsule's device integration solution enables connectivity between virtually any medical device and virtually any EMR system allowing hospitals to choose their type and scope of project. Capsule's proprietary DataCaptor™ connectivity software manages the communication between medical devices and their destination clinical information system(s).  Deployed through software on a PC, terminal server, and/or bedside hardware such as the Capsule Neuron™, patient data can be collected continuously in acute-care settings, or periodically in lower acuity, multi-patient environments. Implementations range from single department to multi-facilities, and in some cases, even system-wide deployment at hundreds of hospitals in a single network.
