Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Supports Modernization of Murdochville Community Centre

MURDOCHVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 13, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the City of Murdochville has been granted financial assistance to renovate and upgrade its community centre.

"Our Government believes that modern community infrastructure is essential for social and economic development. It is for that reason that we have decided to support the City of Murdochville's project to renovate its community centre," said Minister Lebel.

The projected work includes re-roofing, replacing the exterior siding, doors and windows and repairing the interior walls. These improvements will make the centre more accessible and better tailored to the needs of the community.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $52,405 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec, where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
