Barrie Housing Market

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 30, 2014) - According to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Fall Housing Market Outlook report for the Barrie Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), a tight resale market will support demand for new homes. Starts will rise this year and also in 2016, but will moderate in 2015 because of the limited land in the City of Barrie. Home prices will continue to climb but at moderate pace.

"While buyers continue to migrate to Barrie CMA, land availability limits the number of new single-detached homes that will be built over the next few years in the City of Barrie. Such homes still represent much of construction in the Barrie CMA", said Abdellah Massaoudi, CMHC Market Analyst for the Barrie area. "The opening of the new land for construction and the launch of the development of the Barrie waterfront will push housing starts up by 2016."

As Canada's national housing agency, CMHC draws on more than 65 years of experience to help Canadians access a variety of quality, environmentally sustainable and affordable housing solutions. CMHC also provides reliable, impartial and up-to-date housing market reports, analysis and knowledge to support and assist consumers and the housing industry in making informed decisions.
