Ken Michaels Appointed CEO of Macmillan Higher Education and Macmillan New Ventures

Global Chief Operating Officer to be CEO of Macmillan's US Higher Education Companies


NEW YORK, N.Y., April 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Ken Michaels has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Macmillan Higher Education and Macmillan New Ventures. Currently the Global Chief Operating Officer of Macmillan Science and Education (MSE), Mr. Michaels will begin his new job upon the closing of the proposed merger between parts of MSE and Springer Science+Business Media. He will report to John Sargent, Chief Executive Officer of Macmillan Publishers and Executive Board member of Holtzbrinck Publishing Group (HPG).

Mr. Michaels joined Macmillan in 2013 from Hachette Book Group (HBG), where he was President and COO. Mr. Michaels is a former Chairman of the Book Industry Study Group (BISG). He previously held senior positions at The McGraw Hill Companies, in operational leadership roles in both the corporate and education groups.
