PivotPoint Risk Analytics Appoints Christopher Washington as Vice President of Engineering and Expands with New Virginia Office

Company hires former Senior Director of Engineering at RSA to innovate Cyber-Value-at-Risk.

BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - PivotPoint Risk Analytics announced today the appointment of Christopher Washington as vice president of engineering. Washington, recognized for his leadership at RSA and other successful security companies, will be responsible for recruiting and leading the product engineering team for PivotPoint Risk Analytics. The company also announced an expansion of operations with the opening of a new office in Herndon, Virginia.

This announcement builds on the recent launch of the company. PivotPoint Risk Analytics' mission is to quantify cyber value-at-risk, giving chief information security officers (CISOs) and business leaders a common language to improve cyber investment decisions and reduce cyber risk. The expansion to Herndon is driven by rapid early customer adoption and an aggressive innovation roadmap for the company's flagship solution, CyVaR.

"I truly believe that a unique opportunity is forming within the cybersecurity industry as it relates to the quantification of cyber risk," Washington said. "I believe that PivotPoint Risk Analytics, with the CyVaR product, is in the forefront of satisfying that need and I am excited to contribute my experience to the team advancing the product. I am equally excited about having the opportunity to tap into the rich product engineering talent pool in northern Virginia as we move to expand PivotPoint's engineering capabilities."

Washington is a well-known industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in cyber security. Prior to joining PivotPoint, Chris worked for RSA Security. As senior director of engineering, he led the engineering organization for the Advanced Security Operations Center (SOC) suite of products, which included Security Analytics, NetWitness, RSA DLP, and RSA EnVision. Previous roles include vice president of engineering for NetWitness Corp., a network forensics and analytics startup, which launched in 2006 and was subsequently acquired by RSA Security in 2011. Washington attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Morgan State University earning a degree in electrical engineering.

"We believe misguided security investments are the biggest vulnerability for organizations today. We are thrilled to have attracted Chris to help us build on our groundbreaking solution for this emerging market. Combined with the opening of the Herndon office, which will allow us to access highly valued human capital that exists within the region's mature cybersecurity technology start-up environment, we are poised for significant growth," said Julian Waits, CEO, PivotPoint.
