Korein Tillery Welcomes New Partners Robert Litan and Max Gibbons


ST. LOUIS, March 4, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Korein Tillery is pleased to announce the naming of Robert E. Litan and Maximilian C. Gibbons as Partners at the firm, effective immediately. Both attorneys have been valued assets to the Korein Tillery team, playing vital roles in the firm's recent successes.

Robert Litan is a nationally renowned attorney and economist with nearly four decades of experience litigating cases, conducting economic research, crafting economic policy, and heading up both public and private organizations.  A prolific writer and speaker on economics, antitrust law, and financial regulation, Bob has authored or co-authored over 27 books, 200 journal and newspaper articles, and edited 14 books.  Bob has served as Korein Tillery's senior counsel on economic and antitrust matters since mid-2014. He is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania, earned his law degree from Yale Law School and his PhD in economics from Yale University.

Bob litigated first with Arnold & Porter and then with Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy.  In 1993, he was appointed Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division of the Justice Department.  Later, he was appointed Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget where he oversaw the budgets of five cabinet-level agencies.  He served as a consultant to the Department of Treasury on financial modernization and the effectiveness of the Community Reinvestment Act.  In the early 1990s, Bob served as a member of the Presidential-Congressional Commission on the Causes of the Savings and Loan Crisis.  He has testified as an expert witness in numerous complex cases involving antitrust matters as well as the regulation of financial institutions.  Bob also has held major executive positions at the Brookings Institution, the Kauffman Foundation and Bloomberg Government.  He currently serves on the research advisory boards of the Smith Richardson Foundation and the Committee for Economic Development as well as the advisory board of the American Antitrust Institute.

A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the UCLA School of Law, Max Gibbons has played an important role in negotiating and obtaining sizeable class settlements at Korein Tillery since joining the firm in (2005?) as an associate.  He has extensive experience at both the trial and appellate level representing plaintiffs in individual and class actions in Illinois, Missouri and California.  He was involved at various levels in the firm's tobacco litigation, which sought damages for the alleged false marketing of light cigarettes for a class of Missouri plaintiffs.  Max has represented plaintiff classes in state and federal court, briefing dispositive motions, participating in complex discovery, and taking and defending depositions.
