American Health Council Names Dr. Weining Zhen, M.D. to Physician Board


NEW YORK, April 10, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Weining Zhen, Professor and Medical Director at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, has been selected to join the Physician Board at the American Health Council. He will be sharing his knowledge and expertise in the areas of Radiation Oncology and Healthcare.

Dr. Zhen has been active in the healthcare industry for the past 20 years. He became inspired to pursue a career in Radiation Oncology after researching cancer, finding that he enjoyed work in the field of Oncology, and wanting to make a difference in the lives of patients diagnosed with cancer. He received his MD in 1986 from the Okayama University Medical School and completed his Residency in Radiation Oncology at Loyola University Medical Center in 1996.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is active in both the academic/research and clinical missions of the campus and medical center, allowing healthcare professionals and students the environment to provide high-quality patient care, and participates in clinical trials, investigative trials, and new methods to enhance the treatment capabilities.

Dr. Zhen has been in his current role for the past 8 years. His day-to-day responsibilities include patient visits, the treatment of his patients, research, teaching residents and students, and management of clinical operation of the department of Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Zhen attributes his success to a strong work ethic and dedication to patient-care and teaching. He is honored to have reached the highest possible academic rank at the University of Nebraska, as well as regularly recognized as one of its best physicians through the Best Doctor Award since 2005, and is proud to have been a recipient of the Health Teaching Award from both the University of Nebraska and University of Iowa. Dr. Zhen has also been selected one of the Best Doctors in America over the last 10 years.

Dr. Zhen’s goals over the next 5 years include staying up-to-date with the most current advances in medicine and medical technology, continuing his teaching, and furthering his overall growth. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Society for Clinical Oncology, and American College of Radiology. Charitable organizations Dr. Zhen is involved with include the American Cancer Society, Open Door Mission, and the Omaha Symphony.

In his free time, Dr. Zhen enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with his wife Ann.
