Segment Named to Forbes' 100 Best Cloud Companies for Second Year in a Row

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - July 17, 2017) - Segment, the customer data platform, announced today that it was named to this year's Forbes Cloud 100 list, for the second year in a row. The list was produced in partnership between Forbes, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Salesforce Ventures, and is the industry's definitive list of the top 100 private cloud companies in the world.

"Segment's vision is to have our customer data cloud infrastructure become the center of the marketing technology ecosystem to help businesses improve their products, marketing, and customer experiences," said Peter Reinhardt, co-founder and CEO at Segment. "We're honored to be selected to the Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 for the second year in a row, as it is a proof of our own progress, as well as a validation of the enormous opportunity ahead of us to help companies use their data effectively."

Just last week, Segment raised $64 million in funding for their Series C round, led by the Y Combinator Continuity Fund and GV. Y Combinator Partner and former Twitter COO Ali Rowghani also joined Segment's Board of Directors. The funding will be used to invest in product development and to expand the company's team.

With over 15,000 customers, Segment processes over 80 billion data points a month, and is used by some of the world's top brands, including Gap, Intuit and Atlassian. Segment's mobile libraries are the backbone for over 6,000 apps, including Instacart, DraftKings and HotelTonight. The company is now multi-national, with 160 employees across offices in San Francisco, New York, and Vancouver.

Evaluated by estimated valuation, operating metrics, people & culture, and market leadership, Segment was chosen as a top cloud company by some of the cloud's most influential people, including Box CEO Aaron Levie, Salesforce co-founder Parker Harris, Zendesk CEO Mikkel Svane, and Twilio CEO Jeff Lawson.

"Our inaugural Cloud 100 list showed the tech and venture capital community just how many standout private cloud companies there are to watch, and this year's list is no exception," said Alex Konrad, staff writer at Forbes and editor of the Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 list. "Forbes has a keen eye for businesses, and combining that with Bessemer Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures' deep knowledge of the cloud industry, any company's inclusion on the Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 list is cause to celebrate."

"The founders and teams behind the Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 companies are of another caliber," said Byron Deeter, a cloud investor and partner at Bessemer Venture Partners. "We are beyond excited to celebrate the hard work and enormous value these companies are creating as they propel the trillion-dollar software industry forward."

The Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 is published online at www.forbes.com/cloud100 and will appear in the July 27, 2017, issue of Forbes magazine.
