No Barriers Warriors, Wells Fargo Seek Veterans with Disabilities for their 2018 Expedition

Applications and nominations accepted through May 20, 2018

Fort Collins, Colorado, March 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

No Barriers Warriors and Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) are seeking veterans with disabilities for the 2018 #WarriorStrong: The Journey Continues expedition.

The expedition is a journey designed to provide rigorous mental and physical challenges that help veterans reflect on their past, recognize where they are now and work toward goals for their future so they may successfully transition to civilian life after military service.

Five years ago, Wells Fargo expanded its commitment to helping military service members, veterans and their families through home donations, career transition assistance, financial education, and by sponsoring the No Barriers Warriors’ Warriors to Summits expedition series. This year’s expedition will focus on the attributes that veterans bring to communities and the workforce, emphasizing what veterans are capable of when given an opportunity.

The 2018 #WarriorStrong: The Journey Continues expedition will have a team of 12 veterans, including four alumni from previous No Barriers Warriors expeditions to serve as mentors.

Participants of the No Barriers Warriors programs make great strides in their personal and professional lives,” said Jerry Quinn, Wells Fargo Military Affairs Program manager and Operation Enduring Freedom veteran. “Their life-changing stories of overcoming barriers through these experiences have been an inspiration to many of their friends and families, our Wells Fargo team members and the communities they serve.”

The 2018 team will participate in online training prior to the expedition to learn about the No Barriers Life, develop a team dynamic and physically prepare for the expedition. The team will journey to Mount Whitney, the highest summit in the contiguous U.S., with a goal of summiting on Sept. 11, 2018. After the expedition, the team will gather for a post-expedition developmental session at the 2018 No Barriers Summit in New York City. At the Summit, the group will focus on the progress of the goals they set during the expedition and their plan to make a meaningful contribution to their communities when they return home.

No Barriers Warriors Program Director and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran John Toth says the developmental session following the expedition is an important distinguishing aspect of the program. “Bringing the team together to collaborate around the goals they set on the expedition and explore ways to support each other is one aspect of the program that makes this experience particularly meaningful. Service is something that is ingrained in our DNA as veterans, and we want to encourage our alumni to elevate and continue to serve,” he said.
