Edinboro Alumni Event Also Planned During Show

Pittsburgh, April 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Scott Miller, the Dean of Edinboro University’s School of Business, will be a presenter at the 2018 Pittsburgh Business Show, the region’s largest business-for-business trade show and networking event being held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on April 25 and 26, 2018.

As Dean of the School of Business and Interim Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Miller has a wide variety of administrative experiences in higher education and has led and served on multiple departmental, college, university, and system-wide committees.Additionally, he has provided high-level legal and business advice to individuals and small and medium businesses, and has represented Fortune 500 companies in various transactions.

“Edinboro University has been approved to create a bold, new MBA program that redefines the modern MBA. My presentation will introduce our innovative approach to delivering an MBA through new programmatic structure, content, and delivery. The program breaks down the silos found in traditional MBA programs by focusing on decision making and the impact of decision making on stakeholders, including analysis of how leadership decisions affect certain stakeholders such as employers, employees, creditors, and investors. With a blended delivery mode that is aligned with current trends in professional business environments, students will find the ultimate flexibility in choosing which mode works best for them professionally, on their own time and on their own terms,” said Dr. Miller.

The Pittsburgh Business Show will also be the host of an alumni networking event on Wednesday, April 25 from 6-9 p.m. All Edinboro alumni are invited to connect with former classmates and make professional contacts. Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar will be available. Dr. Miller will be in attendance to meet alumni and answer questions about the University’s new MBA program.

To receive tickets to the networking event, including a 2-day ticket to the Show, the Pittsburgh Business Show is requesting a minimum financial donation of $1. All of the funds that are donated will be used to establish an MBA scholarship program that will be created by the Pittsburgh Business Show.

The Show has also partnered with Total Sports Enterprise, a Pittsburgh sports memorabilia and promotional company that will be hosting an online auction through April 15, 2018 with items for bid that include authentic Steelers and Penguins autographed pieces. Proceeds from the auction will also be donated to Edinboro’s new MBA scholarship program.

“I’m excited to be involved with the launch of the University’s new MBA program as well as helping to create the first scholarship for this program. As a business owner, I know how important it is to continue your education and enhance your skills. This new program is innovative and flexible, allowing people to work while earning their MBA,” said Linda Jo Thornberg, an Edinboro University alumna and President of the Pittsburgh Business Show.

This year’s Show includes more than 100 exhibitors, 30+ speakers and workshops, and several networking events for business owners, executives, and employees.
