Cinergy Entertainment Continues to Celebrate Amarillo Grand Opening with a Sensory-Friendly Movie Screening this October

Dallas, TX, Oct. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cinergy Entertainment, a pioneer in theatre and restaurant management, announced today that it will offer a selection of sensory-friendly movies to children and adults with sensory processing disorders in an effort to provide additional community programs.

“At Cinergy we want everyone that comes to any of our entertainments centers to be able to enjoy the movie watching experience. We are excited to bring our sensory-friendly screening program to the Amarillo market,” said Jeff Benson, co-founder and CEO. “It’s important for us to offer individuals with special needs a comfortable, relaxed and accessible way to enjoy our movies.”

Shows billed as sensory-friendly often include accommodations such as lowered volume, increased light levels and room for guest interaction and movement. Cinergy Amarillo is scheduled to hold its first sensory-friendly screenings on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m. and will feature the movie Smallfoot. One Saturday each month a new sensory friendly title will be featured beginning in November with The Grinch and followed by Ralph Breaks the Internet, in December. In addition to the movie screening on Oct. 20, Cinergy will present an adaptive bike from Freedom Concepts to Canyon ISD. The bicycle is built for mobility, therapy, recreation, fun, and freedom to allow children with special needs to gain independence.

Stacy Bruce, President and Executive Director at Variety-The Children’s Charity of Texas said, “At Variety, the Children’s Charity of Texas, our mission is to impact Texas children with special needs by providing resources and empowering experiences.  What is more empowering to a child than mobility?  What is more empowering than riding a bicycle?  Partnering with Cinergy Cinemas and Entertainment, Variety is pleased and honored to donate this Freedom Concepts adaptive bicycle to Canyon ISD.   We hope that this bicycle will provide the freedom of mobility to children with special needs throughout the district.”

Superintendent Dr. Darryl Flusche stated, “I genuinely want to thank Cinergy and Variety for the generous gift of an adaptive bike.  The thoughtfulness and consideration of helping Canyon ISD students with special needs go beyond impacting students but will provide them with a sense of accomplishment and encourage new experiences.”
