Learning Care Group Celebrates Nationwide ‘Teacher of the Year’ Dana Megaughey

ELLICOTT CITY, MD., May 10, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Learning Care Group is proud to honor Dana Megaughey from its La Petite Academy location in Ellicott City, MD., as this year’s recipient of the company’s prestigious Teacher of the Year award. Megaughey has been selected in recognition of her remarkable work in bringing lessons to life in creative and engaging ways to help prepare children for future academic success.  She was chosen from more than 18,000 early education teachers nationwide from the Learning Care Group portfolio of schools – Childtime, Creative Kids Learning Centers, The Children’s Courtyard, Everbrook Academy, La Petite Academy, Montessori Unlimited and Tutor Time.

Megaughey, a Master Teacher, is being honored for her excellence as an educator and for the inspiration she provides to students and staff alike.

“Dana sets the standard  for how to interact with co-workers, children and families,” said Anne Manousos, Senior Division Vice President for Learning Care Group. “Her imaginative approach to hands-on learning helps motivate and encourage students as they develop a deeper understanding of new concepts. She goes above and beyond in her own classroom. She has turned it into the ocean, a race track, and now a castle! The children love all of the creativity and play a huge part in the transformation of the room. We’re honored to have Dana represent us as our Teacher of the Year.”

Megaughey is also being recognized for her outstanding work in partnering with parents to ensure children’s continued growth. “Dana listens to and observes the children, then she revolves her lesson plan around what the children want and need to be successful,” Manousos said.
