Metso Corporation's fiber and paper technology business area, Valmet, and automation and control technology business area, Neles Automation, will supply Stora Enso Packaging Boards at Imatra, Finland with a rebuild of its board machine no. 4. This order, valued at EUR 10 million, is based on utilizing the combined expertise of Metso's business areas. The project will be carried out during November-December of this year.
The order includes a dilution-control headbox, a fourdrinier forming section, various auxiliary and related equipment and systems, mechanical drives for the entire machine, and assembly, start-up and training services. The job will be handled by Valmet's Jyväskylä, Finland unit. The order also includes a nelesDNA process automation system and modifications to the existing process information system, both delivered by Neles Automation.
The primary goal of this modernization is to improve the printability characteristics of liquid packaging board. The rebuilt machine will have a capacity of 230,000 tons/year and a basis weight range of 200 - 400 g/square meter.
