HELSINKI, Finland, Feb. 14, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Metso Paper rebuilds a paper machine with an over EUR 20 million delivery to Metsa-Serla's Kyro mill in Finland. The rebuilt machine, which produces coated and uncoated wallpaper base, will start up in March 2002, following a one-month shutdown.
The rebuild of PM 3 will improve the quality of the base paper, especially its dimensional stability and base formation, and the surface properties of the coated wallpaper. Design speed for the new parts is 1000 m/min. The annual production is approx. 100,000 tons. Metso Paper previously carried out an extensive rebuild of PM 3 in 1984, and also rebuilt the mill's BM 1, which produces folding boxboard, in 1996.
Participating in the delivery will be Metso Paper's business units located at Jyvaskyla, Jarvenpaa, Raisio, Tampere, Turku and Valkeakoski, Finland. Metso Automation and Metso Drives will also participate in the delivery.
