Logicon Brings Key Capabilities, Experience to NSA Groundbreaker Information Technology Contract

Joint Venture Partner in $2 Billion Program

HERNDON, Va., Aug. 6, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) company, is a partner with Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC) in a joint venture, the Eagle Alliance, that has been selected by the National Security Agency (NSA) for the Groundbreaker contract, the Agency's largest information technology (IT) outsourcing program. The NSA estimates that the 10-year IT outsourcing program has a value in excess of $2 billion.

"This type of outsourcing program hits our sweet spot," said Frank Derwin, vice president, Logicon DPC. "Through our acquisition of DPC Technologies in 1999, Logicon has extensive experience with NSA's prior outsourcing efforts. We have a unique understanding of the Agency and its business operations, and this will be of significant value to the Eagle Alliance."

DPC Technologies was among the contractors selected for NSA's softsourcing program, Soft Landing, in 1997. DPC Technologies was also a member of CSC's Breakthrough team, the Agency's pilot program for outsourcing launched in 1998.

CSC is the managing partner of the Eagle Alliance, which was formed to pursue Groundbreaker. The Eagle Alliance and its subcontractor companies will provide telephony and network services, distribute computing services and enterprise management of the nonmission IT infrastructure at NSA headquarters in Fort Meade, Md., and surrounding offices.

Logicon, with 23,000 employees and annual sales of nearly $4 billion, has an extensive array of IT capabilities that will be available to the NSA through Groundbreaker. The program provides a cost-effective model for fulfilling NSA's requirements and ensures a single framework for the delivery of services by all Eagle Alliance members.

"This is a significant contract win for Logicon and helps to validate Northrop Grumman Corporation's strategy of acquiring IT-related companies," said Herb Anderson, Logicon president and chief executive officer. "We acquired DPC Technologies to expand our presence in the U.S. intelligence community, specifically the NSA. The selection of the Eagle Alliance for Groundbreaker confirms that strategy and affirms our position as a top-tier provider of IT services to the federal government."

In addition to the Eagle Alliance, Logicon's TASC unit also provides a variety of sophisticated, mission-critical IT services to NSA. These services include integrated systems management, systems engineering and network architecture support of next-generation land- and space-based communications systems.
