ImageWare Wins Software Contract Award in Guam

Company Will Work with Polaroid to Provide Software for National Drivers License Program

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 24, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX:IW) today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide its ID Card Maker(tm) and Face ID(r) software products to the Guam government. The digital imaging software systems will be used to create secure drivers license documents and manage an associated image/text record database. Installation of the software is scheduled to be completed within the next 60 days. Terms were not disclosed.

ImageWare will provide the software, as well as related maintenance and support, through Polaroid Corporation (NYSE:PRD), the prime contractor on the project. By combining ImageWare's ID Card Maker and Face ID facial recognition software (which utilizes the search algorithms licensed from Visionics, one of ImageWare's technology partners), authorities will have a means to verify the image and identity of the drivers license holder.

Jim Miller, ImageWare chairman and chief executive officer, said, "ImageWare's software products will provide the Guam government with the latest software for creating and managing its national drivers license program. By joining forces with Polaroid, we are able to work with a leading imaging company, expand our geographic reach and participate in larger contracts."
