Northrop Grumman Expands Staff to Support Defense Department TRICARE Information Center


HERNDON, Va., Sept. 26, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced today that its Information Technology sector has expanded its staff by 40 employees to support the Department of Defense's Worldwide TRICARE Information Center in Frostburg, Md., bringing total employment at the Frostburg Center to 160. The additional employees, primarily call center agents, are to support new health care products being introduced by TRICARE this year.

TRICARE, part of the military health system, is a regionally managed health care program for active duty and retired members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors. It brings together the health care resources of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force and supplements them with networks of civilian health care professionals to provide better access and high-quality service while maintaining the capability to support military operations.

Northrop Grumman provides operations support for TRICARE programs including administrative and management services, systems development and call center support.

The Frostburg Center is one of three TRICARE Information Center locations, and has been in operation since January 2001. The other facilities are in Falls Church, Va., and Des Moines, Iowa. The three centers handle an average of 40,000 calls per week, and have answered more than 500,000 calls since they opened.
