Less Expensive to Call Abroad with Telenor


OSLO,Norway, Oct. 26, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Beginning December 29, 2001, Telenor (Nasdaq:TELN) will be reducing its fixed-line prices for calls between Norway and abroad, including heavy-traffic countries such as the US and Spain.

The price reductions are also valid for countries including Sweden, Denmark and the UK, which receive a substantial amount of Telenor fixed-line traffic. The price of calls per minute to these countries will now be reduced by between 10 and 38 percent.

Telenor has previously reduced call charges to these countries by substantial amounts. During the past two years, Telenor has reduced call charges to US by more than NOK 1.0, or 63 percent. On December 29, the per minute price for calls to Sweden and Denmark will be NOK 0.53, which is nearly a 50 percent reduction from NOK 0.99 in 2000.

In the December 29, 2001 price adjustments, the price per minute for calls to Spain will be reduced by as much as 38 percent.
