Northrop Grumman Team Wins $49 Million U.S. Air Force Contract to Support Messaging System for Intelligence Community

HERNDON, Va., Nov. 6, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- A team led by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been selected by the U.S. Air Force to provide technical support for a messaging system used by the intelligence community in the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal organizations.

The Communications Support Processor for the Millennium (CSPM) contract was awarded by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, Rome, N.Y., and is a four-year program with a potential value of $49 million to Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector.

Northrop Grumman's technical support of CSPM will include setting up new installations, development and implementation of system upgrades, and software enhancements and fixes.

"CSPM is the latest step in a program that continually evolves to accept new systems. Our ability to maintain a highly skilled staff together with our close working relationship with our customers have been essential to our success," said Larry Braddy, CSPM program manager, Northrop Grumman Information Technology. "CSPM also remains the only system that runs as a multilevel secure messaging system for the intelligence community, which will keep Northrop Grumman at the cutting edge of this critical technology."

The win extends the company's 23-year tenure as the developer of the Communications Support Processor. During the last eight years, the company has earned 100 percent award fees seven times.

Work on CSPM will be performed in Bellevue, Neb.
