Precise Biometrics About to get World's Largest Order in its Industry

LUND, Sweden, Nov. 12, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Precise Biometrics has received an order equal to more than half of the last quarter's sales. It is an order of 1000 fingerprint readers, which will be used for IT security. The order also covers a license package of about 10,000 licenses. The licenses may result in sales of a comparable number of fingerprint readers.

"This might be the largest breakthrough on the world market," said Christer Bergman, CEO of Precise Biometrics, "and not just for us but for our entire industry. The potential of this deal is fantastic. I am delighted that with this first partial order alone, we get a turnover of more than half of the third quarter's sales." Utimaco Safeware Netherlands, Precise Biometrics' partner, signed the order on behalf of a Dutch customer, which now buys 1000 fingerprint readers that enable computer access with a fingerprint rather than a password. The technology also enables more secure computer traffic. Since the customer already ordered a license package for about 10,000 users, it is very likely that additional fingerprint reader orders will roll in for a comparable number of licenses. The order of 1000 readers will be delivered during November and will influence cash flow of this year positively. Edwin Bosch, General Manager of Utimaco Safeware Netherlands, is very pleased: "This is a decisive step forward for a more than one-year cooperation that involved development and launch of new products. Market potential is enormous, and I am sure that together with Precise Biometrics, we will win many new customers in the future."

"We have known for quite some time that we have world leading products. This order shows that we are definitely 'out there' and that market demand for our products is very large," said Christer Bergman, who thinks the order demonstrates a commercial breakthrough for Precise Biometrics.
