Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation to Receive Benefit From El Torito Restaurants' Holiday Promotion

Restaurant Chain's Gift of Online Promotion is a Gift for Kids

LONG BEACH, Calif., Dec. 13, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) announced today that it would be the direct recipient of El Torito Restaurants' holiday Online Fiesta Promotion that gives the restaurant chain's guests $10 off their meals, while making a contribution to PCRF. The Foundation, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1982 to improve the care, quality of life, and survival rate of children with cancer.

By logging onto www.eltorito.com/signup, Mexican-food lovers can download an Online Fiesta Certificate worth $10 off of any meal totaling $25 or more at any El Torito, El Torito Grill, Who Song & Larry's, GuadalaHarry's or Hola Amigos restaurants. Proceeds from the promotion will go directly to PCRF to support research. The Online Fiesta Promotion runs through December 31.

"We are proud to include El Torito Restaurants as one of our corporate partners," said Nancy Franks, executive director of PCRF. "Their commitment to providing PCRF with a contribution during the holidays means so much to our children and their parents."

The Foundation provides support for research at the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation Laboratory at Columbia University in New York; Children's Hospital of Orange County; Children's Hospital of Los Angeles; University of California, Irvine; University of California, Los Angeles and The Marrow Foundation.

According to El Torito Restaurants' CEO Fred Wolfe, the company's involvement with PCRF is in keeping with El Torito's long standing commitment to community involvement.

"We've partnered with PCRF because of their outstanding reputation for providing critically needed services to children," said Fred Wolfe, El Torito President & CEO. "The holidays are a special time for children, and PCRF has been doing a marvelous job helping families whose children have cancer."

Since its inception, PCRF has raised more than $10 million to fund leading-edge research that has significantly advanced medically sound treatment protocols for childhood cancers. Dedicated volunteers support the Foundation, enabling more than 80 cents of every dollar raised to go directly to research. The Foundation raises funds through gifts from individuals, special giving programs, events, corporate sponsorships, grants and the sale of holiday cards drawn by children fighting cancer.
