Nokia broadband DSL solutions chosen for further expansion by Hebei Telecom, China

Nokia is to supply Hebei Telecom, China, with an expansion to its existing broadband DSL network, which currently provides fast Internet access services to major cities in Hebei province, including the capital Shijiazhuang.

Nokia will supply the D50e DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) and related services, having already delivered reliable broadband DSL equipment on time to Hebei Telecom during the initial phase of the network rollout. Deliveries for the expansion will begin immediately.

The expansion will bring additional fast Internet access services to Hebei, a highly developed province surrounding Beijing. Internet users in Hebei have actively welcomed the ADSL services provided by Hebei Telecom since the initial implementation.

"We are very pleased to continue this relationship with Hebei Telecom, as this once again underscores the reliability of Nokia's systems, as well as Nokia's ability to deliver on time and with good support services in one of the fastest growing broadband markets in the world," says Andrew Page, Director, Broadband Systems, Nokia Networks China.

"We look forward to helping Hebei Telecom expand their broadband network and reach a greater subscriber base eager for high-speed Internet services," he adds.

The Nokia D50e is a flexible, two-stage ATM-transmission based DSLAM platform which allows operators to offer a complete range of DSL technologies, including ADSL and g.SHDSL, from a single system. Working with Nokia's other IP (Internet Protocol) products, the Nokia D50e helps operators to establish an optimum DSL broadband access system, taking the broadband industry from fast Internet access to interactive media and streaming video services.
