Neoware Has the Cure for Ohio Shared Information Services

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Dec. 27, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Neoware Systems (Nasdaq:NWRE), the leading supplier of award-winning software, services and solutions for the emerging Appliance Computing market, today announced that Ohio Shared Information Services (OSIS), the rapidly growing network that provides information services to community healthcare networks servicing rural and urban individuals throughout greater Cincinnati, has selected Neoware thin client appliances to support their growing IT needs.

OSIS, the information services group for the Cincinnati medical networks, services 24 sites throughout the Cincinnati area that provide healthcare services in conjunction with government and private providers. OSIS has the responsibility to ensure that medical information is shared between three different medical networks, healthcare providers and insurance companies.

OSIS needed to replace existing personal computers that were becoming obsolete, as well as install additional desktops to accommodate their growing organization. With three separate medical networks sharing the same information housed within a very large database, OSIS needed to reduce administration costs by implementing a computing architecture with central management to eliminate the need for desk-to-desk visits. Using applications that run on Unix, such as their integrated database package, and deploying these applications using Microsoft Windows Terminal Services and Citrix(r) MetaFrame(r) XP, OSIS looked to Neoware for a cost-effective thin client appliance solution.

Neoware's thin client appliances support the existing systems within the healthcare network, along with having an integrated Internet browser that can be used to access the organization's intranet and email. OSIS is upgrading their management software to Neoware's ezRemote Manager, an enterprise-class management tool designed to significantly lower the cost and time associated with administering large networks of thin client appliances. Neoware's ezRemote Manager enables system administrators to remotely discover, configure, upgrade and maintain their thin client appliances. By eliminating the need for desktop visits to deploy applications, having no moving parts which could break and providing an overall lower total cost of ownership, Neoware's products are ideal for OSIS' growing needs.

"Neoware's thin client appliances require much less support by our network administrators, resulting in greater productivity for the whole organization," said Brian Rardin Sr., MCSE, MCP+I, CCA, A+, Network Engineer of Ohio Shared Information Services. "Neoware provides superior products, cost savings right off the bat and a friendly and highly skilled technical support and services group. As we continue to grow, we will look to Neoware to grow with us."
