WJ Communications Introduces a Low-Cost Highly Linear GaAs MMIC Amplifier

3 GHz Amplifier for 2.5G and 3G Wireless Infrastructure and Base-station Applications

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 25, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- WJ Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:WJCI) a leading designer and supplier of high-performance RF components for communications equipment manufacturers, today expanded its RF Amplifiers product line with the AG101, a general-purpose gain block GaAs MMIC amplifier that offers excellent dynamic range at a low price.

"We are committed to expanding our GaAs technology based RF semiconductor lines to offer the same great WJ reliability at lower price points," stated Skip Hoover, Executive Vice President, Business Development. "The AG101 accomplishes this goal, by providing customers with high performance at a significantly lower cost. Product introductions like the AG101 have allowed us to win sockets and get deeper and deeper inside the leading wireless infrastructure OEMs."

The AG101 is a versatile, low-cost, highly linear gain block, which provides 14 dB gain from 250 MHz to 3 GHz, making it useful in cellular, iDEN, PCS, DCS, PHS, W-CDMA, DECT, GSM, UMTS, ISM, TETRA, Bluetooth, 802.11b and MMDS applications. The AG101 draws only 50 mA of current at a single power supply voltage of 3.3 to 4.5V. The combination of flat OIP3 and noise figure (2.1 dB) performance over frequency makes it attractive for both narrow band and broadband applications. Superior thermal design allows the product to achieve +32 dBm OIP3 performance at a mounting temperature of +85 degrees C with an MTTF of greater than 100 years.

The AG101 is housed in an industry standard package, the SOT-89A. This product sells for $0.99 each for quantities of 10k; production units and samples are available for immediate delivery.

WJ Communications, an ISO 9001-certified manufacturer headquartered in San Jose, California, designs, develops and manufactures innovative broadband communications products for current and next generation wireless communications networks and fiber optics.
