STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Canton Hospital Basel has taken the first step towards implementing Storage Area Network Technology. ProAct Datasystems AG has been chosen as the Swiss hospital's strategic partner for the installation of the new storage solution. The choice of partner is the first step in a large- scale project with the purpose of securing access to hospital information.
The installation of a SAN (Storage Area Network) solution is due to the increasing demands on the storage and availability of the information. The solution contains a platform for a centralised information infrastructure. It will be capable of handling the accelerating increase of information volume, for example in connection with image archiving for the hospital.
The deal was closed in December 2001 and is worth an estimated 380 000 CHF (approximately E250 000 Euro).
