ICA Redraws the Banking Map

STOCKHOLM and SOLNA Sweden, Feb. 8, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Today sees the launch of a new bank - ICA Banken - offering regular banking services for private individuals via 1,650 ICA and RIMI stores nationwide.

ICA Banken's Customer Service Centre in Boras has 130 Customer Service Advisors and is open 7 days a week, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Deposits and withdrawals can be made in the 1,650 stores that act as the bank's contact representatives.

"What we are doing here is redrawing the banking map in Sweden. Our customers told us they want additional services, which is why we have founded ICA Banken and are launching new bank cards," says Lennart Kall, President of ICA Banken AB.

ICA Bankkort Plus is not only an ICA Customer Card, it's an ATM card, a debit card and a credit card - all in one. The card gives you bonuses on everything you buy, wherever you buy it, and can be used anywhere in the world.

"We want to make life easy for our customers, which is why we've grouped all these services in a single card," says Lennart Kall.

ICA Banken is challenging the major banks by offering a wide range of services and competitive terms. Customers can save at high interest rates - right from the first krona deposited - pay bills and borrow money. And they will soon be able to pay bills and transfer money over the Internet, too.

"ICA Banken will be the best banking alternative for private individuals," concludes Lennart Kall.

ICA Banken AB is a subsidiary of ICA Ahold AB and operates in the financial services sphere. Customers can access the bank via the Internet and the Customer Service Centre, or at virtually every ICA and RIMI store in Sweden. The head office is located in Stockholm and the Customer Service Centre in Boras. The President of ICA Banken AB is Lennart Kall.
