JONKOPING, Sweden, Feb. 8, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- With reference to the bid made by Jefferson Smurfit Group (Smurfit) to acquire the outstanding shares of Munksjo (Munksjo), the Board of Directors of Munksjo has decided to appoint Lazard as financial advisor.
Lazard will assist the board with evaluating the bid and the options available to Munksjo and its shareholders.
The board of Munksjo then intends to make its recommendation with regard to the bid to the shareholders on March 1, 2002.
Preliminary timetable:
-- Prospectus, issued by Smurfit, is expected to be published on
or about February 18, 2002.
-- Recommendation from the board of Munksjo on March 1, 2002.
-- The expected acceptance period runs from February 19, through
March 12, 2002.
