Northrop Grumman Receives FDA Approval to Market Oxygen Concentrating System for Military Use


ISELIN, N.J., Feb. 27, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced today that it has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin marketing the company's Patient Ventilation Oxygen Concentrating System (PVOCS) for military use.

PVOCS provides the military with the first commercial-off-the-shelf oxygen concentrator that can operate multiple anesthesia machines and patient ventilation devices simultaneously. Produced by Life Support, a business unit of Northrop Grumman's Component Technologies sector, PVOCS supplies oxygen (USP 93 percent) and medical grade air at 50psig in hospitals, surgical suites and other clinical settings in military facilities.

PVOCS is a rugged, reliable, lightweight and portable solution to the logistical problems associated with transport and use of oxygen cylinders and Patient Therapeutic Liquid Oxygen for the deployed military hospital.
