Telia wins appeal on interconnection charges in Sweden at Administrative Court of Appeal

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Administrative Court of Appeal has decided to accept Telia's appeal in respect of a judgment passed by the County Administrative Court regarding the 1998 calculation of the price of interconnection charges. The Administrative Court of Appeal is thus referring the case back to PTS (the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency) for reconsideration.

The decision from the Administrative Court of Appeal will have no impact on the present price of interconnection charges, but in principle this is an important move for Telia as Telia does not share PTS' view of how the price of interconnection charges should be calculated.

Telia has previously filed two appeals with the County Administrative Court regarding PTS orders relating to a reduction of the interconnection charges. The issue of how the interconnection charge is to be calculated has not yet been finalised.

The decision of the Administrative Court of Appeal is final.

The price of the interconnection charge is the price charged by telecom operators to other operators when they use each other's networks.
