Metso to Rebuild Paper Machine at Cadidavid, Italy


HELSINKI, Finland, March 28, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Metso Paper will deliver an extensive paper machine rebuild to Cartiera di Cadidavid S.r.l. in Italy. The order covers the second phase of rebuild for the mill's PM 2. The rebuilt machine will start up in January 2003. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.

The order is part of the PM 2 investment and rebuild program started last year with the order and start-up of a new dryer section supplied by Metso Paper Como. The final target of the program is to increase PM 2's production capacity to approx. 450 tpd of testliner.

The delivery includes a forming section with a headbox with double layering, a press section with a shoe press, a pope reel and a winder. Metso Paper units in Italy, Finland and Sweden will participate in the project, with Metso Paper Como being the main contractor.

Cartiera di Cadidavid S.r.l., which is a part of the La Veggia Group, has one paper mill operating two paper machines, and four converting mills for box manufacturing. The Cadidavid mill employs approx. 170 people. In 2000, the net sales of La Veggia Group amounted to EUR 160 million.
