Enea Epact's Biggest Order to Date; Enea Epact and Ericsson in Cooperation Concerning Testing of GPRS Systems

TABY, Sweden, April 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Enea Epact AB and Ericsson AB have signed a new contract in which Enea Epact has been entrusted with the maintenance and further development of central components of the test tools required for the quality assurance of Ericsson's GPRS products. The contract, which runs for one year, means that Enea Epact, as a supplier, will be contributing to Ericsson's product development.

Enea Epact has previously developed and delivered components for a tele-traffic simulator for GPRS to Ericsson Simulation Products and Solutions, a unit within Ericsson responsible for tools for the testing and verification of mobile telephony systems. Enea Epact's work will contribute towards Ericsson being able to maintain and develop further its traffic simulator more efficiently. The new version of the tool that Enea Epact will be helping to develop in this assignment will be used for the quality assurance of new functions in next generation mobile systems such as EDGE.

"We are naturally very pleased that Ericsson is continuing to entrust parts of its development to us, which in itself is an important acknowledgement of our relationship and also confirmation of the correctness of the strategy we have laid down," said Patrik Holm, President at Enea Epact. "We will be functioning here as an external development department and complementing Ericsson's competence in complex, distributed real-time systems, and simulator and protocol development for telecom and datacom. The cooperation thus clearly constitutes additional evidence that our strategy to offer our customers solutions with the help of our highly skilled system architects and designers under forms of cooperation or partnership is right," commented Patrik Holm.

GPRS, or General Packet Radio Service, provides significantly higher data transfer speeds than today's GSM network - up to 115 kbps. With EDGE, speeds of up to 384 kbps are possible. The user can be connected continuously to the Internet, and the operator is able to charge for the amount of data sent instead of the time that the data call takes.
