PartnerTech Concludes Fiber-Optic Collaboration Agreement with Ericsson Network Technologies

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- PartnerTech has signed a 3-year collaboration agreement with Ericsson Network Technologies AB. The agreement involves a new generation of products for fiber recoating, a step in the manufacturing of fiber-optic components. PartnerTech estimates the total value of the agreement at SEK 80 million.

Based on a brand new approach, Ericsson Network Technologies has developed a complete system for fiber splicing. The company has chosen PartnerTech to supply the recoater, the machine that coats the fiber with acrylate once splicing has been completed.

PartnerTech President Mikael Jonson commented: "Fiber optics is an exciting and rapidly expanding field of telecommunications. That makes it particularly satisfying for us to participate in the technological advances for which Ericsson is in the vanguard."

The newly patented system is fully automated and easy to use. Its primary target group is manufacturers of fiber-optic components. In order to perform efficiently and economically under stressful conditions, the system is designed for compactness and durability.

According to Gustaf Kjellberg, Vice President and Splicing Manager at Ericsson Network Technologies, "Far-reaching technical expertise and experience in developing new technologies were the qualities that most attracted us to PartnerTech. Furthermore, PartnerTech has the ability to see the system in its entirety."

Ericsson Network Technologies offers systems solutions for telecom networks, largely related to fiber-optic infrastructures and the integration of copper, fiber optics and wireless technologies. The company's customers are telecom operators, real estate companies, public and private network owners, power companies and suppliers of telecom systems.

PartnerTech AB develops and manufactures electronics products under contract for leading growth companies, primarily in the telecom infrastructure, IT/mechatronics, and medical equipment segments. The company, which has some 1,150, is quoted on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
