German Federal Motor Transport Authority Turns to ReadSoft for Automatic Data Capture

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 11, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- ReadSoft has closed a deal with KBA (Kraftfahrt Bundesamt) to install the software FORMS at their statistical department in Flensburg. KBA will use FORMS to generate statistics concerning road- and traffic issues in Germany. The order value is 200,000 USD.

The Federal Motor Transport Authority deals with road and traffic issues in Germany. For example, they approve new car models, manage the central vehicle records and administrate driving permits. They also produce an impressive database with statistics regarding transports in the German traffic system. Today, 30 people gather information from approximately 200,000 forms annually at the statistics office in Flensburg. From now on, the ReadSoft FORMS software will automate the handling, and more importantly, speed up the process time for faster and more reliable statistics.

"The switch from manual to automatic processing of questionnaires and statistical forms will save KBA a great deal of time and improve their data quality. For us it is strategically important to have large governmental institutions choosing our products. This is yet another excellent reference for us in the German market," commented Jan Andersson, MD at ReadSoft.

The Kraftfahrt Bundesamt was founded in 1951 as a federal authority in charge of traffic. The KBA is subordinated to the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing and has 1100 employees in Germany.

ReadSoft is the market leader in the development and sales of software for automatic data capture, which is software that automatically registers and interprets data on forms and invoices in electronic or paper format. Since its establishment in 1991, ReadSoft has evolved into a global corporation with twelve subsidiaries in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, the US, Mexico, Chile, Brazil and Australia. In 2001 the turnover was 29 MUSD, and the Swedish business magazine Veckans Affarer awarded ReadSoft the title "IT Company of the Year 2001."
